Weather System

How weather affects Pokemon spawns and how to control it

Weather & Pokemon Spawns

Weather in Pokemon Pokopia directly affects which Pokemon can appear at your habitats. Some Pokemon only show up during specific weather conditions, while others appear in "All weather". Unlike time of day (which follows your real-world clock), weather changes dynamically in-game — but you can influence it.

Weather Conditions

☀️

Sunny

Clear skies. Fire-type and many common Pokemon thrive. Default in most regions.

Control: Build a Sunny Day Site habitat to force sunny weather.

☁️

Cloudy

Overcast conditions. Some Pokemon prefer clouds over direct sunlight.

Control: Cloudy weather occurs naturally between other weather patterns.

🌧️

Rainy

Rain brings Water-type and Bug-type Pokemon out. Also affects terrain.

Control: Build a Rain Dance Site habitat to trigger rain.

❄️

Snowy

Cold conditions. Ice-type Pokemon appear. Mainly in elevated regions.

Control: Snow occurs naturally in some regions or can be triggered.

Controlling Weather

You don't have to wait for the right weather — Pokopia gives you tools to change it:

  • Rain Dance Site — A special habitat that triggers rainy weather in the area. Build it to attract Rainy-condition Pokemon.
  • Sunny Day Site — Forces sunny weather. Essential for attracting sun-loving Pokemon like Charizard.
  • Yawn specialty — Pokemon with Yawn (like Slowpoke) can also affect weather/humidity in their area.

Tips

  • Use the Spawn Calculator and set weather to see exactly which Pokemon you can find.
  • Check the Rainy Pokemon and Snowy Pokemon lists for weather-exclusive species.
  • "All weather" Pokemon are the majority — focus on weather-locked ones first since they're harder to find.
