How Time Works in Pokopia
Pokemon Pokopia uses your Nintendo Switch 2 system clock to determine the in-game time of day. This means the game reflects your real-world time — if it's 9 PM for you, it's Nighttime in Pokopia too.
Many Pokemon have time-of-day restrictions. Some only appear during Morning, others only at Night. Planning your play sessions around these windows is essential for completing your Pokedex.
The Four Time Periods
Morning
5:00 AM - 9:59 AMEarly birds like Pidgey and some Grass-types are most active. Good time for foraging.
Daytime
10:00 AM - 4:59 PMThe longest period. Most Pokemon are available. Best for general exploration and building.
Evening
5:00 PM - 7:59 PMThe shortest window. Some Pokemon only appear during this transition period.
Nighttime
8:00 PM - 4:59 AMNocturnal Pokemon like Venonat, Gastly, and Drowzee appear. Illuminated habitats are key.
"All Day" Pokemon
Many Pokemon are marked as "All day", meaning they can appear during any time period. These are generally the easiest to find since you're not constrained by timing. Focus on time-restricted Pokemon first during their windows, then fill in "All day" Pokemon when convenient.
Tips for Time Management
- Use the Spawn Calculator to see who's available right now.
- Evening is the shortest window (only 3 hours). Prioritize Evening-only Pokemon when that window hits.
- Build nighttime habitats (Illuminated variants) during the day so they're ready when night falls.
- Check the Nighttime Pokemon list and Morning Pokemon list to plan sessions.
- The game resets daily at 5:00 AM — this is when new Pokemon can spawn at habitats.
