Why Housing Matters
Housing is the key to Pokedex completion. Since each habitat can only attract one Pokemon at a time, you need to move befriended Pokemon out of habitats and into houses to make room for new visitors. This lets you reuse the same habitat to attract different Pokemon.
How to Build a House
A house in Pokemon Pokopia requires:
- 4 Walls — Any wall type works. Craft at the Workbench.
- 1 Door — Any door variant.
- 3 Furniture items — Any combination of indoor furniture (beds, tables, chairs, etc.).
Place the walls and door to form an enclosed structure, then put 3 furniture items inside. The game recognizes it as a valid house once all conditions are met.
Moving Pokemon In
Once you've befriended a Pokemon at a habitat, you can ask it to move into a house. The Pokemon will relocate, freeing the habitat for a new visitor. You can then rebuild or reuse that habitat to attract the next Pokemon on your list.
Comfort & Preferences
Each Pokemon has habitat preferences (Bright, Warm, Humid, Dark, Dry, Cool) and food flavor preferences. Matching these increases the Pokemon's comfort level, which unlocks bonus effects. Use the Comfort Optimizer to see ideal setups.
Housing Strategy
- Prioritize shared habitats — If a habitat attracts 5 Pokemon, house the first one ASAP to start attracting the next.
- Build houses early — Don't wait until habitats are full. Have houses ready before you need them.
- Group by specialty — Keep Pokemon with useful specialties (Chop, Burn, Water) in houses near where you need them.
- Use the Housing Planner to see which Pokemon to house first for maximum efficiency.
